Heavenly Bodies

Story Prelude :: Act ø - Raphaelo Station -

Baron had regained his senses and was now driving the ship, with a little help from the Auto Navigation AI, he was able to breach the atmosphere and arrive in orbit, now they were cruising among the stars.

Up here, things were almost peaceful

Baron heard the distinct clink of the artifact closing once more into the mechanism. Then refueling with the liquid it once had before. It was a special liquid that allowed humans to breathe underwater. Winsor managed to pull himself into the passenger seat, having to climb over like he was in the back of an SUV.

Their windows were tinted by the big void to their right, to their left Gliese, with its massive seas and tiny separate islands, cloud and weather adorned the planet, and sometimes a milky iridescence opal color would show through the clouds. The force-field beneath.

Winsor let out a relieved sigh.

”The ships sayeth w
e almost th
e, ” Baron mentioned.

”Should beest be in view any second anon, ” Winsor noted.

All of the tension from before had dissipated.

Baron was wondering about the light that had shone because of their hearts connecting, Baron knew it had something to do with Queen Titan taking half of his heart. Baron wondered if Winsor had inadvertently given half of his heart to him. Baron heard of something like that happening before. Where love so big, had cast magic.

Winsor slumped and just looked out the window, he noticed a star brighter than any of the others, it was almost spewing out energy, like how a black absorbs life, except in reverse, it stood in orbit along Gliese, almost like a white moon.

”Whats the dealeth with that concluded, be it? ” asked Baron breaking the silence. Winsor was tired, and wanted to sleep, but needed to keep awake to help Baron land the ship at the space station

”That white moon? ” asked Baron completing his sentence.

Winsor didn turn to look at him.

”Thats the First Sphere, ” Winsor explained. ”Weve studied it for years, and our only conclusion is that its constantly spewing out energy into the cosmos, no one has really seen or heard about the realm inside. ”

”Whats the running the
y? ” asked Baron

”The ten and I, well, we think, thats from where well be able to summon the Astral Body, no point in hiding it now since we
e both floating in the void of space, ” said Winsor in an almost dejected tone. ”Anyone who has ever tried to get close, has only gone into a trance state and made to enter it until they are but pulverized into white dust, its a like a Sirens song in that sense, ” said Winsor without missing a beat.

Baron didn get it, this Astral Travel and Astral Projection thing had always been part of Winsors studies, and the little he had said about it, made Baron confused. His head hurt whenever Winsor spoke of it.

The rest of their trip was met with silence, and the sounds of quiet slow rise and fall of Winsors breath, as he slept. Until they had circled the planet and found themselves face to face with the space station, from the horizon, it appeared in a flash of rainbow colors, it came into existence.

The space station that was orbiting Gliese, usually hidden from plain view, they would come into existence only for a couple of seconds so ships could dock, but otherwise, it was kept hidden from any prying eyes down in Gliese. Then it would activate its quantum cloaking, disappearing from view, all in the span of a couple of seconds.

”There it is, ” said Winsor, with a little bit of awe in his voice. ”Raphaelos Station, ” Winsor murmured with a little bit of awe in his voice. He would never get tired of this view.

Baron did a pitch-perfect job at steering the ship into its landing position, the movement was slow and precise, matching their velocity, altitude, and tork to that of the station until they connected from the front. Once they were landed, the ship moved to a loading bay, pulling them up like an elevator. This space station was massive in size now that they were up close. It was probably around 20 stories high, housing greenhouses, water factories, and military research stations.

As they were being pulled up, Baron and Winsor managed to see how astronauts were working on a new type of weapon. Winsor knew it was Gods Directive, but the moment passed just as quickly as it came. Winsor wondered if it was because of this reason they had denied their use of the weapon. It was being repaired. It was always being repaired, one wrong shot and it could be deemed unusable. But he looked back at the boy sleeping in the artifact, and realized, that maybe the ten wanted to see the boys power in action.

Finally, they stopped and entered a loading station.

The loading bay was hustling and bustling with people who seem like they had a lot of work to do. Baron and Winsor got out of their ship and touched the floor of the station. Baron was grateful to finally be able to touch the solid ground or at least some semblance of it. Winsor opened the trunk and released the artifact from its holding place.

Then took it under his arms.
