I almost fell in love at first sight.

That sentiment invaded my mind when I returned to the drawing room.
I looked down at the vase in my arms and the gypsophilas blooming like a peacock’s feathers.

He was a tall man.
It was obvious that he was a knight, but his demeanor was calm, as if he was a priest in a temple.
He was the first person beside Nezar to leave such a deep impression inside my mind.
Did the aftermath of remembering a past life change the way I look at the world? Other than him, there was still no presence that felt as overwhelming as Nezar’s appearance.

I put the vase back on the table and headed back to my seat next to the window.
I was only away for a short while, but the training ground had already emptied, leaving only sand and wind.

…What should I do now? Do I really have to wait for Lockherd to finish his day’s schedule in boredom? Am I the only one here?

I got up from my chair and walked toward the door.
In order to capture a girl’s heart quickly, I had to learn tea party etiquette, so there was no time to waste in such a place.
Since it was already too late to meet Sir Pancion, I would have to aim for the next opportunity.
Of course, during times training allowed visitors again!

I pushed both of the heavy, massive, and thick door wings using my whole body and all of my willpower.
But as the wooden door flung open too abruptly, my body lost its centre of gravity and fell forward.
I could feel warmth wrapped around my arm.
I fell into some stranger’s arms and landed with my nose against his clothes.
The smell of sun-soaked soil and sweat swept over me.

“Ah… I’m sorry.”

I couldn’t believe I showed such disgrace to one of the knights in the same division as Lockherd.
I intended to bow my head at the man who seemed to be a member of the Second Knights Division.
But as I tried to bend down, no matter how hard I attempted to remove myself from him, a strong force coming from the other side embraced me.

“Excuse me, can you please let me go?”

What kind of situation is this? Why am I being held by a man I don’t even know?

“Excuse me…”

Even if it was a forced engagement, I had a young, competent, and handsome fiancé.
Even if my situation was extremely bizarre because I was searching for a lover for my fiance.
Even if I had to use a lover to break my engagement…Still, I only had Nezar!

“Can’t you hear me? Even though I may look young, I have a fiancé.
That means I’m not the type of person you can touch arbitrarily.”

“….That’s a pretty good response.”

It was a familiar voice.
I lifted my head, which had been buried in the man’s arms.

I could see his dark-shade eyes behind the long eyelashes.
Blush cheeks like that of a nobleman, straight nose bridge without a curve, and a sharp jawline.
If my eyes were not deceiving me, then all of those were Nezar’s features.

His lips drew a small arc as I looked up.

“But the most important thing is missing.
Shouldn’t you tell them that your fiancé is me? Try it.
‘My fiancé is Prince Nezar.
So don’t hit on me and get lost.’”

His outfit was a little different from usual.
The buttons on his shirt, and the cuffs on the sleeves that covered the wrists, which had always been neatly done, were all loosened.
But that wasn’t the real problem.
His visible collarbone that was just above my gaze made my mind fall into a state of chaos.

Oh, no.
This is bad for my mental health.
I didn’t mean to look at it.

I turned my head in haste.
Still, I was inside Nezar’s chest.

“Don’t you want to try it?”

“No, Don’t joke around with me.
Do you want your fiancee to be rumoured as rude?”

“Bad rumours about you are already widespread.
If it spreads any further than now, it won’t change the original impression of you anyway.”

Nezar, upon saying so, tightened his embrace around me.
At the same time, all sorts of rumours about me circulating in the social world, swirled in my head.
At least it seemed there was no rumour going around that I was a dull or dumb child.

Thank god.

With a sigh of relief, I pushed Nezar’s body back.
However, no matter how hard I tried, his firm, large build did not budge.

Argh, this is so annoying!

I ended up panting and dropped my arms despondently.
Nezar’s body trembled from his soft laughter ringing from above my head.

“Nezar.”

“Hmm?”

“How did you know that I’m here? I don’t remember saying…”

“I know everything, so don’t even think about roaming around without telling me like today, or do even weirder things.”

What does he mean by weird?

My heart jumped at his words because they hit right the nails on the head.

“I-I didn’t do anything weird.
I just came to watch Lockherd train.
Geez, if anyone heard you, they would think I’m plotting something secretly!”

“You came to see Pancion Entera, not Lockherd.
You, who is always busy cursing at Rick and Lockherd all day long, would never have followed him to such a place if it wasn’t for that.”

The sound of his tongue clicking reached my ears as I bury my face into his arms.
His shirt and warm skin began to cool down little by little.
The noise of his cuffs rubbing against my shirt, the golden sunlight casting over Nezar’s shoulders, and my loud, palpitating heartbeat.
When I came to my senses, the scent of the gypsophilas that had been filling my nose vanished without a trace.
I was once again immersed in his scent.
Suddenly and strangely, I wished that this moment would last forever.

“Well, I supposed you two must have met.
Even if you didn’t, I will at least praise you for your persistence till the end.”
