”Woah! Pumpkin, you are not that weak, ” Amil said while patting Pumpkins little head. Since he accepted the contract, he could now sightly feel the emotions of Pumpkin. Pumpkin now seemed to feel happy. Its emotions felt simple, possibly because it had a low intelligence stat.

Amil saw his status and to his surprise, the poison given by Pumpkin was next to nothing, only getting to -0.1 HP per second. He drank another Poison relief potion.

After that, he started leaving for home, on the way back, Pumpkin crawled just under Amils feet which caused Pumpkin to get swept by his tail many times. After getting to the entrance, he commanded Pumpkin to crawl around his arm.

Many people observed pumpkin with a frown, but Amil didn mind and went inside the house.

His mother saw him and happily came towards him for a hug, but after seeing Pumpkin, she froze. The aura around her started to change making Amil suffocate and Pumpkin to faint.

”What is it doing here? ” She asked aggressively.

”M-Mom, I-it hurts! ” Amil grunted in pain.

Seeing his condition, her mother came to her senses and became pale.

”Oh…sorry Amil, it was by instinct! ” She told while hugging him.

”Sigh…no worries mom. ”

”But why is that snake with you! ”

”Its actually a short story, I reached level 2 and tried to kill it but at the end, it became my slave or the more appropriate word, pet, ” Amil said while patting unconscious Pumpkins head.

Amil told the whole thing to her and she listened in shock.

”Sigh…As a mother, I am worried about how you played with poison but technically your method was good. You won be affected by poison effects anytime soon now. ”

”But congratulation! You are level 2 now! I am very proud of you~ ”

They happily chatted till his father and sister also came back. Amil had to fill them up with all the new information too. When the explanation was over, Pumpkin woke up, but after he saw Amils mother again, he swiftly crawled towards Amil and hid on his back.

Everyone had a good laugh and sat together, pumpkin still wary about Amils mother.

”Well, young kobold, you are very lucky to have come across such a coward snake, ” His father said and proudly patted his shoulder.

Emil tried to become friends with Pumpkin, but she only got hisses from him while Amil scolded him. They had good food, Pumpkin eating seasoned flesh for the first time got addicted to it, and even went somewhat closer to his mother for more.

She chuckled, and gave him a pat on the head and more food.

”By the way mom, I never asked your level, what is it? ”

”Oh, you didn know? Well, my level is 10 while your fathers is 11. Your big sister here is at 6 right now. ”

”Woah! So will you evolve into Dragon-Wrought Kobold too at level 15! ”

After saying that, he only got strange glances at him. Then Amil mustered his strength and told them about his skill dumbfounding everyone.

”Have you told this to any other? ” His father asked with a very serious tone which got a shook from Amil.

”Listen Amil, don tell anyone about this skill like you did right now…you will get into danger ”

”Ok… ”

”And we know that around level 15, we all become dragon wrought, but the thing is there is no more evolution known till now. Your evolution skill might be able to tell you but, right now, its only at level 1 so we can say anything. ” His father said with a somewhat mixed emotion.

Amil after hearing became more excited to evolve, it was as if his whole existence was screaming to yearn for evolution, it came to him like an instinct.

”Now, leave that. Tomorrow, you must go to the leader and tell him you leveled up. He will give you permission to go deeper into the forest.

Amil went to his room with pumpkin in tow, he sat on the ragged bed and went to sleep within seconds.

Pumpkin looked at him for some while with his small bead-like black eyes and wrapped itself around Amils tail.

Morning came soon, Amil heard many hisses like an alarm till he woke up, he there saw a pumpkin looking at him as if telling him to get to the forest again.

He chuckled and got up, but for the first time in all those days, he found his tail sore. He shook it for a while till the soreness disappeared.

They ate some food and till it was time to meet up with the leader.

Amil found it correct to not take pumpkin with him to not have any problems with the leader. It took a while, but pumpkin understood and got on the back of Amins mother who was making more food for lunch.

He went speedily, reaching it within seconds. Amil directly went in there finding the leader sitting there again. This time no aura suffocated him.

”Well, aren you special, getting to level 2 in such a few days, ” the leader said with a mild smile.

”Sir, I was just killing snakes again and again till I got the level up, ” Amil said while giving the leaders wings a glance at various times.

The leader was quite amused with Amils behavior.

”You aspire to become a Dragon Wrought? ”

”Yes sir, I aspire to make my whole family a Dragon Wrought. ”

The leader chuckled as if he listened to a joke.

”Well, you have to do a lot of hard work for that, I might have given you something to help but I can play favorites. ”

”Alright, enough talking, I have work to do so you have got your permission to go into the inner forest. ”

Amil nodded in appreciation and bowed, he went to the gate and was just leaving when he got some parting words from the leader.

”Next time, try to bring your snake with you, I would like to meet it. ”

Amil gave an awkward smile and just left. He traveled directly home. There he saw his mother giving food to a pumpkin whose body was deformed from God knows how much food. He kept gulping food not knowing his master had returned.

”MOM! What are you doing! ”

”Oh! You have come~…. I was just making him fit for your journey. ”

He didn say anything and just grabbed pumpkin by his tail and dragged it out of the house. It whimpered after seeing the food on the plate which was just next to him getting farther and farther.

He did not waste any time, running while wrapping pumpkin on his stomach.

They reached the outer forest in an instant. Just in front of them, a snake appeared.

Amil told pumpkin to attack and kill it. Pumpkin just went towards it proudly to show off to his master.

He went crawling towards it, at first, the snake on the other side just ignored Pumpkin but seeing him just speedily crawling at him like a predator, he spat black poison towards Pumpkin. The poison splattered onto Pumpkin, but he continued slithering over.

Amil seeing this got enlightened, Pumpkin and the snake were just the same species. Their poison also being the same did not affect each other.

The snake, not getting the clue, again, tried to spit the poison but alas Pumpkin having better common sense or from experience, he previously knew that it would not work.

Pumpkin directly went to the snake piercing its fangs deep inside his neck.

The snake spat red blood as pumpkin removed his fangs and again pierced not his neck but one of the eyes.

It could only wince in pain till his death came and it was rather quick. The snake went limp and fell on the ground.

Amil was just going to go there but he saw pumpkin just swallow the snake starting from its face. He reached till the middle until his whole body was buljing. Amil didn know whether to laugh or cry, he went and cut the body which was outside and coiled pumpkin around his waist again letting him digest the food.

He started going towards the inner forest. Amil was told that starting from the inner forest, all trees were marked red.

Amil saw a bunch of trees with barks colored red. He went past it and could feel the whole atmosphere change a little.
