TL: Moonlit

Lin Hanchuan considered himself not a universally defined good person; he was just an ordinary person in every sense.

For example, right now, for the first time in his life, Lin Hanchuan was planning to seek revenge on someone.

“No one will believe what you say,” Lin Hanchuan stopped Lu Mao from silencing the man, speaking calmly, “The possibility of having your brain examined is much higher.”

Wei Zheng’s gaze had darkened since Lu Mao’s attempt to kill someone, and he relaxed only when Lin Hanchuan intervened.
He pulled Lu Mao behind him and said, “The young master of the Rong Family and a mixed-blood person causing a big scene in the city, fighting over jealousy.
Everyone knows about it.
Now you’re slandering the rival as the Zombie King.
Does your own father know about your unruly actions?”

“Why won’t you believe me?” Rong Ziping pointed at Cheng Jizhou, his words becoming incoherent with anger, “His eyes can turn red! Why don’t you do it now? Can’t you control the zombies? Show them your ability!”

Cheng Jizhou hid behind Lin Hanchuan, looking aggrieved.
“Young Master Rong, I genuinely like him.
Just because you like him, does it mean he can’t like someone else? You are so domineering!”

Oh, this person was still talking like that.
Rong Ziping was almost driven to madness by anger.

Lin Hanchuan patted Cheng Jizhou’s head, a flash of coldness passing through his eyes.

After the military personnel arrived, Lin Hanchuan and the others distanced themselves from the scene, paying no attention to the furious Rong Ziping.

Cheng Jizhou’s eyes flickered as he decided that it would be better to deal with Rong Ziping at a more convenient time.
Just as he was thinking about the best timing, he heard Lin Hanchuan’s cold and stern voice, “Don’t take action in this matter anymore.
Leave it to me.”

Cheng Jizhou nodded obediently, but he felt something was off.
Did the other person seem to know that Rong Ziping was telling the truth?

‘If he knew I was the Zombie King, would he still treat me so well?’ Cheng Jizhou lowered his head, his gaze falling on their clasped hands, his high IQ of 180 unable to figure it out.

After staying in Tianhu Town for a whole week and using numerous large-scale weapons to clear out most of the zombies in the town, damaging a large number of houses in the process, the group finally managed to clear most of the zombies from the town, leaving only a small insignificant portion behind.

As they prepared to return to the Imperial Capital with dozens of survivors they had rescued, Lin Hanchuan and the bald woman in charge of the team collected all the grain from the granaries into the crystal nucleus space.

“With these things, the survival rate of humans will at least double,” the bald woman looked at the crystal nucleus space in Lin Hanchuan’s hand, filled with emotions.
“We have just discovered that crystals might aid mutants in their cultivation, and you’ve already come up with such a revolutionary invention…”

“It was a stroke of luck,” Lin Hanchuan humbly replied.

The bald woman was originally one of the most elite special forces in the military.
Her team was initially not assigned to this mission, but her immediate superior, the scar-faced man, sent her to protect Lin Hanchuan, so she brought her team along.

At first, she didn’t understand why they needed to protect such an ordinary mutant, even if he had the rare Thunder-type ability.
It didn’t seem necessary to deploy the elite forces of the military for him.

Now she understood.
The person in front of her was not only a Thunder-type mutant but also the inventor of the crystal nucleus space, a figure that could potentially change the post-apocalyptic world.

Using three crystals, they collected all the food and handed the crystal nuclei space to the bald woman to take back and report.
Lin Hanchuan and Cheng Jizhou sat together, taking a slow rest.

On the way back, there were fewer zombies, and their speed had increased compared to when they came.
Lin Hanchuan glanced at Cheng Jizhou, who was leaning against his shoulder, taking a nap, and his lips curved slightly.

Perhaps due to the complete annihilation of the Rong Family’s team of mutants, Rong Ziping had become much more docile and didn’t cause any more trouble.
Until they returned to their residence in the Imperial Capital, no one had seen Rong Ziping again.

After resting at home for a few days, the scar-faced man found Lin Hanchuan and informed him that someone had mastered the method of creating crystal nucleus space and was ready to reveal this great invention to the world.
The commander-in-chief intended to meet Lin Hanchuan before the public announcement.

During this meeting, Lin Hanchuan didn’t bring Cheng Jizhou or anyone else; he met the commander-in-chief alone.
No one knew what they talked about, but they knew that when the crystal nuclei space were announced, the commander-in-chief referred to Lin Hanchuan as the “Light of the Apocalypse.”

“The Light of the Apocalypse?” someone sneered, “Can this young man in his twenties live up to such a title?”

The apocalypse hadn’t been long ago, and the military still had influence.
Combined with the fact that Lin Hanchuan used crystal nucleus space to store and solve the military’s food crisis, morale had soared, attracting many high-ranking officials to this peculiar meeting.

In the spacious conference room in the Imperial Capital, everyone was chatting and laughing, full of confidence and vigor, seemingly unchanged from before the apocalypse.

The commander-in-chief sat at the front, with Lin Hanchuan right by his side.
He looked around, his slightly plump figure making him appear amiable, and his eyes seemed relaxed and powerless, speaking with little force, “Whether or not he deserves this title, you will find out soon.”

The others glanced at each other, their expressions showing varying degrees of disdain and skepticism.

Lin Hanchuan scanned the surroundings.
Before the apocalypse, these people used to be respectful in front of the commander-in-chief, never daring to say a word more than necessary.
After the apocalypse, they used money to buy protection and lived without legal constraints, enjoying a more luxurious life than before.

It was hard for ordinary people to imagine that while they struggled for a mouthful of food and fought for survival, these people, like before the apocalypse, still ate the best and freshest food, discarding the excess without a second thought.
Every time they went out, they were surrounded by dozens of mutants and bodyguards, with no worries about safety.

The commander-in-chief smiled peacefully, opened his computer, and personally gave a detailed introduction to the crystal nucleus space.

From initial doubts to sitting up straight, then showing keen interest, and finally gazing intently at the crystal nucleus space placed on the table, their attitudes shifted dramatically.

“The crystal nucleus space is about one square meter in size, but there are higher-quality ones with larger space, which are also more expensive,” the commander-in-chief continued with his smiling demeanor, seemingly unaware of their change in attitude.
“With the crystal nuclei space, Tu Ji is indeed worthy of being called the Light of the Apocalypse.”

Lin Hanchuan paid no attention to the gazes of others; he only noticed the displeased expressions on the faces of the Rong Family members, and a cold smile appeared on his face.

Amidst everyone’s excitement about the crystal nucleus space, only Rong’s father wore a grim expression.
He believed that only his son had the spatial ability, and he could use this advantage to make a big profit.
However, with the appearance of the crystal nucleus space, Rong Ziping’s spatial ability became redundant and unnecessary.

Most importantly, Rong’s father remembered the name “Tu Ji.”

Ten years had passed, and Rong’s father couldn’t recall the appearance of the person who took the blame for his eldest son.
However, the high school student’s murder case had caused a huge sensation, and the name “Tu Ji” was too peculiar to be forgotten.
Even after all these years, a faint impression of it remained in Rong’s father’s precious memories.

He sat across from Lin Hanchuan, and their eyes met, both filled with coldness.

After the commotion subsided, Lin Hanchuan knocked on the table, and everyone involuntarily quieted down to listen to him.

“The specific rules for purchasing will be formulated by the military.
I only have one special request,” Lin Hanchuan said in front of them, “The crystal nucleus space will not be sold to anyone from the Rong Family.”

No one noticed how this group of experienced individuals had their pace controlled by a young man in his twenties, and they all took a sharp breath, looking at Rong’s father with profound meaning in their eyes.

The Rong Family had offended someone, and without the first ticket of the apocalypse, the crystal nucleus space, they would likely be left behind by other families in the Imperial Capital, someone speculated.

This time it was the Rong Family, but who would be next? They didn’t feel secure with this technology under the control of the military, others worried.

If the Rong Family lost the crystal nucleus space, the talents they recruited would probably leave soon, and they would have to deal with these mutants by themselves.
Ambitious thoughts crossed someone’s mind.

Everyone had different thoughts, but no one showed any hint of it.
They all smiled happily, as if each person genuinely felt joy about the appearance of the crystal nucleus space, and they surrounded Lin Hanchuan, asking questions non-stop.

Lin Hanchuan was amiable, a far cry from his previous aloofness.
He was easy to talk to and answered all their questions.

“How did you come up with this…?” someone asked.

“I have a friend who possesses spatial abilities.
It was after studying his spatial abilities that I had this idea,” Lin Hanchuan replied.

“The research process was very challenging, but once you find the right direction, it becomes simple,” he added.

“Thank you all for your support, but I really enjoy the environment of the military and don’t plan on leaving.”

“I already have an idea for the next research project.
When the results are achieved, you’ll know what my next project is.”

Rong’s father didn’t come forward to please the young man; he knew that no matter how much he tried to please him, it would be in vain.
Ten years ago, he had completely offended this man.

But he still perked up his ears to listen to their conversation.
Although he wasn’t sure what he had heard, Rong’s father’s eyes flickered slightly, revealing a thoughtful expression.

After dismissing everyone, the commander personally counted the down payments given by these people for the orders.
He chuckled, and the weak and powerless look he had shown in front of outsiders was replaced by a gleam of sharpness in his eyes.
“These people are hiding quite a few good things.”

Food, military supplies, and talents… what they had offered so far was just a drop in the bucket.

“Take advantage of the early days of the apocalypse when you didn’t have time to deal with them and seize the opportunity to take them over,” Lin Hanchuan said calmly.

When they left, it was already late at night.
Lin Hanchuan walked out of the meeting room and saw Cheng Jizhou, who had been waiting for he didn’t know how long.
The icy look in his eyes softened slightly, and the tense corners of his mouth formed a faint arc.

After a day of pretending and accommodating others, Lin Hanchuan only felt relaxed at this moment.
“You’ve waited for a long time.”

Cheng Jizhou put down the book in his hand.
“Let’s go back.” As he spoke, he casually tossed the book into the crystal nucleus space specifically made for him by Lin Hanchuan.

Lin Hanchuan’s eyes were sharp, and he faintly caught a glimpse of the book’s title, something like “How to be a Charming B*tch to Win Men’s Hearts.” He couldn’t understand the exact meaning of the title, but it seemed quite impressive.

The two walked into the night.
In the depths of the apocalypse, there were no brightly lit lights at night, just a terrifying darkness.
Cheng Jizhou softly grabbed Lin Hanchuan’s arm.
“It’s so dark, I’m scared.”

Before Lin Hanchuan could say anything, someone cursed in the darkness, “Disgusting!”

As those words were spoken, Rong Ziping appeared with a dozen people behind him, stepping out of the darkness.
His anger had not subsided as he gritted his teeth and said, “You shameless zombie king, you can’t escape today!”

Shameless, zombie king… doesn’t the combination of these two words feel strange? Lin Hanchuan felt somewhat speechless.
