br>As soon as he was done, he walked out to see the teen sprawled on the sofa and playing games.
A smile appeared on his face as he walked over to bring her a glass of water.

“Drink,” he said.

When a hand had brushed her arm, Yao Tang felt her body stiffen for just a moment.
She looked up to see a man sitting right beside

her.

He watched her play this entire time, idly sitting by the couch.
Sometimes, he’d even feed her the food on the table before returning to his original position.

The entire apartment was quiet, yet so filled with warmth.

After she was finished playing the game, Cheng Yan returned to the kitchen to check the temperature of the porridge.
There was a short pause before Yao Tangfollowed suit.

He stirred the congee while she leaned against the doorway.

Suddenly, she glanced at the window.
“It’s raining,” she noted.

The pattering right by the windowpane somehow only managed to warm the connection between them.

“Do you want to head to the amusement park tomorrow?” He turned to her.

“I have to go back to class tomorrow,” she replied.
“I only have half a day off.”

This was the most stressful period in high school.
With the college entrance exams coming in close, the schools naturally wouldn’t give them any long vacations for them to enjoy.
Doing well in those exams was their first priority after all.

They had to go back first thing in the morning

“The porridge is ready,” he called out.
“Why don’t you come over and sit down?”

Yao Tang went into the dining room.

Cheng Yan’s bowl of Black Rice and Red Dates Soy Milk was quite sweet, just the way she liked it.
It was so delicious that she ended up finishing two bowls at once.

After eating, Yao Tang sat by the sofa.
She was reading an English novel.
She rested her chin on her hands, looking peaceful under the artificial lighting

Cheng Yan sat beside her and started to do his own things.

The two of them were very close.
Even in silence, there was a sense of comfortableness between the two of them, as if they had already become used to each other’s presence.
Warmth spread across the atmosphere.

At eleven o’clock, Yao Tang placed her book on the couch and yawned.
She glanced at the clock before stretching her arms.

“Are you sleepy?”.

“I’m heading to bed.” She stood up, nodding in response.
“Good night.”

“Good night.”

Cheng Yan watched her slowly walk towards the bedroom.
The corners of his lips curled up, and he leaned against one of the pillars.

Since Yao Tang was so used to relying on herself, he’d have to help her get used to his existence.
Maybe then, she’d include him.

The next morning, Yao Tang returned to No.
1 High School.

As soon as she had entered her classroom, she saw everyone gathered in groups of twos and threes.
All of them were gazing at the phone screen, where they could see Sheng Ting.
