Katariona Devises a Plan for a Mofu-Ben

As we climbed to the top of the mountain near the temple, as we had done when we first arrived, we decided to eat the lunch we’d brought with us.

For today’s bento, I tried making various flower-shaped onigiri (rice balls) and side dishes to make it look like a garden of flowers.
I cut carrots into flower shapes and arranged the green vegetables as the leaves in the bento box, creating the image of a flower garden.

“Foo–! It’s a deco-ben!”

“What’s a deco-ben?”

Flare-sama chuckled wickedly.

“Leon doesn’t know what a deco-ben is?”

“Deco-ben is the abbreviation for a decorated bento (lunch box).”

In one of the books I borrowed from Flare-sama, there was a scene where the girl, who was the MC (main character) of the story, made a decorated bento for the boy she liked and gave it to him.

(TL: *Hehe*)

The idea of decorating a bento instead of sweets was interesting to me, so I made one.
I think it’s one of my best works.

“It’s probably inspired by one of the stupid books Flare possesses, but it’s a very colorful and pleasing lunch.”

Leon, who is currently in his boy form, grabbed a rice ball and took a bite.
Ever since he revealed to my family that he was a god, Leon will sometimes eat his meals in his boy form.
The reason for this is because he can use his hands when he is in his human form.

“Delicious! All the food Rio makes is excellent.”

I felt happy when Leon praised me.
I could understand why the main character of the story wanted to give a lunch box to the boy she liked.

“Deco-bens take a lot of work to make.
You should savor it fully!”

“You weren’t the one who made it, did you? So why are you talking down to me?”

(TL: Meant to say that she’s acting superior, high and mighty)

Flare-sama also tasted the bento and said it was delicious.

Let’s make a deco-bento with Leon as the motif next time.
I’ll call it “Mofuben”! First, I’ll use white rice to make Leon’s face, and then of course I’ll have to add his paw pads.
But, I can’t think of any ingredients to use for his odd-eye eyes.

“……o.
Rio!”

Hearing my name called, I came back to my senses.
It seemed like someone was talking to me, but I didn’t notice.
I was so absorbed in the idea of the “Mofuben” that I didn’t hear any of the surrounding sounds.

“What were you thinking about?”

“I was thinking about making a Mofu……..a deco-ben next time.”

I almost said “Mofu-ben” by accident.
Leon looked at me with turbulent eyes.

“Mofu? Deco-ben? Oh, well.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you.
What were you talking about?”

“You haven’t been listening since the beginning, have you? I was talking about the nun named Therese-san we just met.”

It seems he had been talking about Therese-san while I was thinking about the deco-ben.
I was so engrossed with the idea of making a “Mofu-ben” that I didn’t listen to Leon and Flare-sama’s conversation.

“Therese-san inherited the blood of an elf, right?”

Since I didn’t understand what the conversation was previously, I tried to bring up the topic of Therese-san’s inheritance of elf blood.

“I’m surprised that there are still people who carry the blood of the elves.”

“Is it really that rare?”

The elves are a noble race, who never leave their elf village.
The history of their race seems to be about the same as that of the Dragon King clan.

“Pure-blooded elves, like those of the Dragon King clan, don’t leave their village!”

“Especially the High Elf Royal Family.”

I’ve never seen an elf in person, but I’ve heard of the high elves.
They are said to live even longer than normal elves.

Suddenly curious, I asked Leon a question.

“I’ve read in a book that elves are really beautiful, is that true?”

“It’s been hundreds of years since I’ve last seen an elf, but I think they were good-looking.”

It’s said that gods don’t judge people by their looks.
I bet that he judges the elves by their souls, so Leon’s “They were good-looking” isn’t very reliable.

I was able to meet the Dragon King Princess, Slyphy-sama, who is said to be hard to meet even by chance.
I hope that one day I can also have the opportunity to meet an elf.
The chances of that are near zero, but…….

◇◇◇

On the way back, I was carried on Leon’s back.

“Won’t it be noticeable if you fly in that form?”

“It should be fine since the sun is going down.
Besides, we’re flying higher than the phantom and sacred beasts.”

“You mentioned before that it’s difficult for you to fly for long periods of time, didn’t you?”

“It’s been a long time since I did that.
I’ve been pushing myself.
So now I can fly all day without struggling.”

Come to think of it, he was flying faster than the dragon.
I wonder if he was faster than the dragon back when he carried me on his back when I was seven.

The air up here is supposed to be thin and cold, but I didn’t find it hard to breathe, nor was I cold.
Leon must have put up a barrier around me.
Moreover, Leon’s back was fluffy, warm, and very comfortable to sit on.

“Why don’t you let me ride on you!”

Flare-sama said, opening her golden bird beak, as she flew alongside Leon.

“You can fly by yourself.”

“You rode me on the way there, and now you’re being unfair!”

“But it’s beautiful to see the golden Flare-sama and the silver Leon flying side by side.”

Flare-sama who had been terrorizing Leon shouting suddenly smiled.

“Rio praised me!”

“Simpleton.”

Leon snickered with a laugh.

“Leon!” It’s a race!”

Flare-sama’s speed increased, and Leon followed her perfectly keeping up.

“Hmph! I can’t afford to lose to Flare.
Rio, hold on tight!”

I held Leon’s neck firmly as he increased his flight speed, not losing to Flare-sama.
Just enough not to choke, I was happy to be buried in fluff! Oh, how soothing.
