A Short Story: Two Girls’ Thoughts 2

TL: Guys, I’m so sorry for the delay.
I realized that I needed to post, but I couldn’t.
By the time I got the chance to, I……sorta forgot.
I will forewarn you guys, that there will be days (maybe a lot) where I will forget, be overloaded with school, etc.
The only promise (for both normal and patreon readers) I can make is that I will not delay the chapter more than 2 days past what’s mentioned.

Part.1

Strange.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.

The magic attribute test I’ve been waiting for gave me a “non-attribute”.
Why is that? I was supposed to be a light or dark attribute and a Crown Princess candidate.
What did I do wrong?

I did my best to train myself on becoming a lady as my mother said.
I read a lot of books on magic.
I even asked my father to get me a teacher to teach me magic.
I worked harder than anyone else, so why?

“Don’t be discouraged.
Sometimes magical attributes appear after you enter the Academy.”

“You’re right.
I’ve been studying diligently for the past three years, and god is sure to take notice of me.”

My parents comforted me on the carriage ride to the royal palace, but I couldn’t hear them.

I was the last to arrive at the tea party hosted by Her Royal Highness.
I was seated at the same table as three baronesses of the same family rank.
I might’ve been able to be seated at the same table as Her Highness.
If only I had been judged to have the light or dark attribute, I would’ve gotten adopted by a Duke instead of being a Baron and become a candidate for Crown Princess.

The only thing I can think of is that the magic attribute test ball was broken.
As I was thinking about this, I failed to join in the conversation of the young ladies seated at the same table.

Looking over to the table where Her Royal Highness was seated, I saw that one Duke lady and two Marquis ladies were chatting with Her Royal Highness.
It seems that the beautiful Marquis with the silvery-white hair had her magic attribute test ball shine particularly brightly, and people debated whether it was the earth attribute or the dark attribute.
I chilled at the thought of being beaten to the punch, but the result that came back was the earth Plant Magic.
I was relieved.
Plant Magic is like what gardeners have.
Will she become a gardener in the future, even though she’s the daughter of a Marquis? I feel sorry for her.

The ladies were buzzing, and I looked to see that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was walking toward me.
He’s taller than when I met him three years ago, and his face is as beautiful and lovely as ever.
If I’m going to get married, this is the person I want to marry.
I wonder, is there any way for me to get my hands on light or dark magic?

I wonder if I can go to the Royal Library and look for it.
While I was pondering about various things, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince came to our table to greet us.
I have to pay my respects!

As I was lost in thought, I was late in getting up.
In my haste, I accidentally knocked over the teacup in my hand.

“Ah.
I apologize.”

I apologized while hurriedly curtsying.
I could hear the ladies around me giggling.

“Oh my! How rude.”

“She’s the daughter of an upstart baron.”

I could feel my face heating up.
For a moment, I glared at the ladies who scorned me.

“Are you alright? Did you get burned?”

The Crown Prince is the only one who speaks kindly to me.
Tears started to trickle down my face.

“Calm down! Let’s go to the waiting room for the time being.”

The Crown Prince and his friend escorted me to the waiting room.

“Are you alright?”

I suddenly started sobbing in front of His Royal Highness who gently cared for me.
I was so frustrated with being “non-attributed” and embarrassed that I had been despised at the tea party that I suddenly burst into tears.a

His Highness’ friend seemed to be lightly admonishing him, but I wanted to immerse myself in this warmth.
Don’t interrupt me!

“You can cry until you calm down.”

Look! That’s what His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said to me.

After returning to the mansion in the royal capital, I was still immersed in the warmth of His Royal Highness for a while.
I still want to get the light or dark attribute after all and become the Crown Prince’s Princess!

When everyone in the mansion had gone to bed, I sneaked into the basement study that my father had forbidden me from entering.
I figured that there might be a clue in here.

The basement study was locked, but I secretly borrowed the key from the butler.
I have all the male servants in this house at my beck and call.

When I entered the study, the smell of mold and dust filled the air.
It seems it hadn’t been entered for a long time.
I took a lantern and walked to the back.

Looking at the bookshelf at the back of the room, I saw a book that was shining brightly.
Attracted to the book, I picked it up and looked at the title: “The Legacy of Baron Campbell”.
I flipped through the pages.

“I shall leave this book to my descendants.
However, only those with no attributes will be able to understand this book.”

What does that mean? Turning the page further, I saw a magic circle.
Touching the magic circle, it began to glow and the memories of my ancestors were engraved into my mind.
I was able to understand the entire contents of the book.

“Oh.
So that’s what this is all about.
With this, I can be the Crown Princess!”

Part.2

I was able to see her again.
I’ve never been so happy.
This time I will protect her!

She’s been kind to me since she was a child.
Her family is also kind and warm.

Thinking back, before her reincarnation, her family was poor and sold, and she was badly abused.
If at all possible, I would like to stop being reincarnated this time.

By the way, I’ve been able to witness something interesting when I first opened my eyes.
There was a white beast with a funny expression beside her.
Aside from its fluffy white fur, the odd-eyed eyes seemed familiar.

I was amused and angry at the same time.
What were you doing in the previous timeline? Why weren’t you with her? Turning my gaze to him accusingly, his ears and tail drooped.

Perhaps the proper fate wasn’t working in the previous timeline.
It was also my fault for failing to regain my memory.
I smacked the white beast’s head.
Oh! It’s surprisingly comfortable to touch.
She must be taking good care of you.

It was time to determine her magical properties.
Is her magic attribute different from the previous timeline? Not really.
Only magic granted by the white beast can be appraised.
I was nearly left behind, so I desperately clung to her and expressed my intention to follow her.

During the magic attribute judgment, I saw the woman who framed her in the previous timeline.
How dreadful.
That thing could be awakened again in this current timeline.
That would be very dangerous.

However, the conversation the day after the magical attribute assessment revealed that she was well-prepared.
It seems that it was the right decision to let her keep the memories of the previous timeline, giving her a second chance.
I understood that she considered it cruel, but I also felt sorry for her.

(TL: She’s talking about how Rio feels sorry for her thinking it’s cruel)

To my surprise, she decided to cut off my mission in this life.
She also told me that she would share her painful memories with me.

I knew she was a kind person.
The sparkle of her soul is as beautiful as ever.
I promise I won’t make any mistakes this time.
I will protect you.

My precious sister.
