The House of Secrets

Sarah was waiting for the train. She was on the platform waiting for the train, which was an hour late. She was sad but also terrified. She went to her parents house after ten years after she heard that Claire died in the tragic car accident. Ten years ago, she ran away from home. Back then, Sarah was fighting with the disease of psychosis. It all started after her mothers death when she was ten years old. When she was young, Sarah always described seeing her mother as if she were alive. She can touch, talk to, and hold her, but she was later diagnosed with psychosis. She got the treatment, and she was doing well, but sometimes she couldn differentiate between reality and delusion. She was staring at the light pole. In the meantime, a guy comes to her and says

I am sorry to hear that Sean told me about that devastating news. ”How you holding up? ” the guy says to Sarah while hugging her.

I am fine. I don know if I talked to her three weeks ago. Claire said she is good. She told me that she was happy in her marriage. She has three kids, and suddenly I got the news that she was gone. Ill never see her again. Its like a dream. I think its not true. ”, says Sarah. ”

Did you take your medicine? I am asking you because it is real. ”You never mentioned that you have a sister? ” Max asks Sarah.

She looks at him and then looks away.

”We were not close and I thought she had forgotten me, but Claire remembered me, ” Sarah explains.

What do you mean that you were not close? Max asks her again.

”Claire is my twin sister, ” while showing him the picture in her hand. We were never close. She was the favourite one in the house.

In the meantime, the train arrived at the platform. Sarah is walking to the train. Max is walking after her, trying to stop her.

Sarah looks at him, and Max hugs her. She walks back to the train. She gets on the train. Sarah goes to her seat and sits down. Max was standing and waving outside the train window. Sarah waves him back.

There were a lot of questions in her mind which she wanted to get answered, like how did Claire know his whereabouts because I was not in her contact? She was again thinking that it might not be true. Maybe Claire wants to meet her. Then again, she remembers Maxs words that she does not have to think about things a lot because sometimes my mind tells me that I want to believe. Claire died in a car accident and left three children and a husband behind. It is a tragic accident. Claire called me that night. She was scared. Her voice was breaking, but she said she needed my help. Why did she say that? Was she in trouble? Sarah leans back in her seat. She grabs her head and says loudly, ”It is not real. ” In the meantime, the guy comes to her and asks

Can you show me your ticket? ” The man says to her

”Yes, ” Sarah says to him while showing him her ticket. He checks the ticket while walking away from her.

She started staring outside the window. The train is going too fast. She was staring at the birds, which were very few flying in the sky because of the cold weather. Little pieces of clouds were in the sky. The path was covered by fog. Most of the people on the train were sleeping. Some people were awake, drinking hot tea. She was staring at them, thinking that they were free from everything. They are quiet and calm, not knowing that my world was shattered today. I can tell them how lonely I am feeling at this moment. I wasn with her, but her presence was always with me. Claire told me that we are twins, so no one can separate us in this world.
