Good Food

“I never thought we would really all be here.”

All of Seizerk-san’s group is sitting at the table.

They were supposed to be working in different places for the organization’s research, but they came back at about the same time as if they had shown up.

Rattler-san was smiling bitterly, so I guess he must have done something.

A little dismayed, I put the final touches on dinner.

Today it is a Toma Stew with meat and a lot of cheese on top.

Seizerk-san and Rattler-san look delighted.

A steamed dish of slightly larger than bite-sized meat in a basket of leafy greens.

I prepared a tangy and spicy sauce for it.

Nouga-san was genuinely interested in the steamed dish.

A salad of mashed and blanched potatoes mixed with thickly seasoned, baked and chopped meat and blanched egg.

I topped the raw vegetable salad with crumbles of dark bread that had been browned and topped with salad sauce.

“Did you fail?”

I looked at Cival-san’s words and saw that he was pointing at the black bread.

Apparently, he thought it was burnt bread that had been baked to a golden brown.

“No, it’s not.
I put it in there to give it a slightly different texture.”

“Heh.
I thought it was burnt bread.”

As expected of Cival-san.

I smiled wryly at the fact that he seemed to see through many things.

He nods his head lightly as he pats my head and eats his fresh vegetable salad.

“This is interesting.”

He apparently likes it.

“Hey Nouga, don’t just hold it, eat it!”

I look at Nouga-san at Borolda-san’s words and see that he is eating a basket of steamed food.

Borolda-san seems to be trying to take it away from him.

“Well, I’m almost done steaming the rest of the food.”

“What? Is there more?”

“Yes.”

Nouga-san loves his meat with a tangy, spicy flavor.

He knew that the combination of the two would increase his appetite even more than usual.

So, I made twice as much steamed food as needed.

The second batch should be steaming up soon.

I go to check on the meat on the cooker.

“Smells good.”

As I’m watching it being done, Rowcreek-san comes out from behind me.

He was sitting next to Nouga-san and probably hadn’t eaten at all.

“It is seemingly all right now.”

“Can I take it with me?”

“Yes.
It’s hot, so be careful.
I’ll bring the sauce.”

Rowcreek-san happily put the basket on a large plate and carried it to the table, then sat down away from Nouga-san.

As I brought the sauce, the others thanked me and were truly grateful.

It must be hard to take the meat away from Nouga-san.

I looked at Nouga-san and saw Cival-san deftly taking the meat from the basket Nouga-san was holding.

…That is something only Cival-san can do.

No one else can do it.

“Is Ivy eating well enough?”

I sit down and Rattler-san hands me a potato salad with meat mixed in.

“Thank you very much.
I’m eating well.”

I’m pretty full from eating my lunch as well as tasting the food when I seasoned it.

I didn’t think I tasted that many, though.

Maybe I shouldn’t have eaten three Prue berries.

As I ate my plate of salad, I watched as the platter emptied.

That’s funny, I made quite a lot of it.

I figured if there was any left over, it would be for tomorrow morning…

“Were you all that hungry?”

I asked Cival-san, who was enjoying his after-dinner tea alone.

Cival-san eats as much as Rattler-san and Seizerk-san, but they finish eating quickly.
